 START YOUR PUPPY OFF RIGHT FROM THE START! Grooming is a necessary part of every dog's life. It is never too early to introduce your dog to basic grooming. Here at the Pawlor we will tailor a program to introduce your new baby to grooming in a positive way. During your first visit, we will allow your pet to get to know our groomer and the facility. We will sit them on the grooming table & slowly introduce them to the different tools associated with the grooming process. We will progress through all the necessary grooming steps over a series of 1 hour weekly or bi-weekly sessions going at a pace that is comfortable for your pet’s individual personality & tolerance levels. During these 'training sessions, your pet will learn to acclimate to the grooming process in a healthy & positive fashion. In my opinion, pushing a puppy too hard & too fast produces frightened & possibly aggressive dogs that become more difficult to groom over time. A slow introduction allows them to overcome fears & apprehensions associated with grooming and helps them learn to accept being handled without being combative or overly-stressed. If this trust is broken early-on by being forcefully handled & groomed, it can take tons of time & hard work to rebuild that bond & earn your pups trust back again.
