How much will my grooming session cost?
The total price of the session is based on several factors including breed, size, temperament, coat condition & hair style. There are so many factors to consider when calculating this price, I recommend calling for an estimate. The actual price can only be determined once the pet is seen by the groomer. After the initial session, I will recommend a grooming regiment to help maintain your pet's grooming needs.

What are your hours of operation?
We are open by appointment ONLY. Appointments are scheduled 7 days a week starting at 9:00am.

How long will my pet be at the Pawlor?
Your first visit will be a bit longer, as we need to discuss your pet's needs & fill out a client information sheet. During this visit, I spend extra time getting to know your pet & helping them feel more comfortable with me & the salon. After the first session, I can tell you how long a "regular" appointment will be; the time frame is based upon how complex of a style they are getting, how cooperative the pet is and of course the over-all size of the dog & the condition of their coat at the time of their appointment.

My dog is shedding like crazy, can you help?
This is one of the main complaints that pet owners have. De-Sheddling is part of the standard grooming package for all dogs who shed their coat. When done properly, regular grooming will reduce shedding. This is one of the most common reasons our clients have for bringing in their dog. In order to retain its effacy, your pet will need to be seen at regular intervals (usually every 6-8 weeks). Please keep in mind, that healthy skin & coat starts from the inside out, so a healthy diet is crucial to a healthy dog. Most breeds drop their coat twice a year, in preparation for the seasonal changes. This is when we notice the most pet hair in our homes. At these times, I recommend making a special appointment to remove the shedding undercoat. Throughout the rest of the year, maintain the coat with regular brushing & grooming.

Can I stay while my pet is being groomed?
Yes you can, although I don't usually recommend it. Oftentimes, your pet will be more anxious and less apt to cooperate when their mommy and daddy are present. If you are concerned about how your fur-kid will react during his/her session, you can wait in the owners lounge. Depending on the services ordered, you may be with us for a while.

My pet has special needs, will they be accommodated?
During our initial meeting, you will be asked to fill out a client information sheet (similar to what you would fill out at the doctors office). This form allows us to assess your pet's overall physical & mental health. Accommodations will be made to ensure your pet is kept as comfortable as possible during their visit.

I am unsure of the best hair cut for my pet, what do you recommend?
I feel it is best to choose a hair-style for your pet on a case-by-case basis. The best hair cuts are chosen to suit your lifestyle, much as you would choose for yourself. I will help you figure out a style and regiment that will suit you and your pets need.

What kinds of products are used at The Pawlor?
All products used here are of the highest quality and have made it through a vigorous "Tested-by-Melissa-Process". Basically, I use the product(s) on my own pets before it makes it into the Pawlor. I also speak at length with the manufacturers and independently research the products. If you would like, we can also discuss the kind of products being used on your pet. Please feel free to ask questions.

I just adopted a pet & she is really scared of being groomed. Can I still make an appointment?
Of course you can, I enjoy working with these kinds of dogs. In circumstances such as these, I like to have an initial consultation with you & your pet. I am not in the business of torturing animals, so I will not "man-handle" a dog in the name of vanity. If your dog is showing extreme signs of stress or aggression, I may recommend breaking the sessions down into smaller more tolerable doses (please see the "Puppy Program") in order to help your dog learn to trust me and feel comfortable during their groom. We can also discuss desensitization techniques you can do at home to help your dog adjust to being groomed.
